Friday Favorites :: Tea Edition {headaches too}

I have always been a tea drinker. Slowly over the past 15 or so years, I have become quite a coffee drinker as well.

It wasn't until quite recently I was told by my acupuncturist that I needed to give up wheat, dairy, and coffee. I initially started seeing him because my migraines were becoming more frequent AND I was getting headaches daily... for the past several months. This was not good. Neither was the 8 advil I was taking every day.

Giving up wheat and dairy was a piece of cake. I didn't mind that. What I did mind was the idea of giving up coffee. So I didn't give it up for several weeks.

I noticed right away after giving up wheat and dairy that the headaches became less frequent. But it wasn't until just this week that I gave up coffee and I feel even better. The best I have in years actually.

I can think more clearly, my headaches have reduced to maybe 1 a week, I am sleeping SO well, I have more energy, my memory is better, and I think more clearly.

I am acutely aware that I get plenty of caffeine with the tea that I am drinking, but I just feel fantastic without the coffee.

So here are my favorite teas that I have been enjoying.

Ps.... Whistling Kettle is my favorite place to buy my tea. I have been drinking their teas for years.

This is an affiliate link in case you want to buy from them. YOU get 15% off if you buy more than $25 of tea. I get $5 off my next order.

Milk Oolong

"Each sip of this oolong tea brings to mind buttery pastries and sweet custard. Milk Oolong is naturally rich and creamy without any dairy added. The 'milky' flavor comes from a process of withering the tea leaves overnight in a temperature controlled room that is cool but humid. The result is a tea unlike any other, with a silky mouth feel and notes of cream and honey. Milk Oolong tea leaves can be steeped multiple times and each brew will have a subtly different flavor profile."

Milk Oolong is my #1 favorite to sip on all day. It has the subtle flavor of a buttery pastry.

Matcha

I typically go for the unflavored Ceremonial Matcha. It is smooth and herbaceous. It makes a delightful Matcha Latte made with NutPods creamer. Health Benefits of Matcha

Sharp Mind

This tea tastes SO delicious and great for a quick pick-me-up!

"Yerba Mate provides the raw caffeine punch, but not in overwhelming amounts. Pu-erh tea is lower in caffeine, but keeps you feeling fresh. Sweet berries, banana chips, pomegranate, and mango make Sharp Mind Tea a lively infusion."
